In other news, this was weird and goes against twenty-five years of training. I hate it.

I know for a fact that a Stent-and-Bypass takes at least three hours.

so, no, I have not.

No, but I did once take an hour detour for that Arby’s duck sandwich, only to find that they sold out before I got there.

Arby’s is quite experienced at having good sandwiches that aren’t available when you really want one.

For a while they had brilliant brown sugar bacon sandwiches, I’d kill for one right now.

No, but I will happily take the car and drive 20 minutes to a supermarket that has my favorite chips, even though there is a huge supermarket like a 100 meters from my apartment.

Can’t be too many places in the western world where it’s possible to be an hour away from a McDs.

Define “normal.” It’s not normal for me, but I will say that a Big Mac is an occasional guilty pleasure for me, and I haven’t had one in a very long time. If I get McD drive through while I’m driving, I opt for the QP since it’s not so messy.

Yeah, it was a limited promotion a year or so ago, only a handful of restaurants got them, only in areas where duck hunting is highly popular. There was one on the Eastern Shore of Maryland that had it, but only for less than a  day.

I think the furthest I’ve driven for fast food was about 25 miles or 30 minutes.

Was your hour drive for a Mickey D’s Big Mac, worth it?

Just be glad you can actually go in one. Peeing on road trips are now much more problematic.

I think so. Needed a relaxing drive.

I’m an hour and fifteen minutes from my closest one.

I thought everyone cleared their own tables at fast food places, or at least I always did and wouldn’t think to simply walk away and leave a table full of mess. Even pre-pandemic that is how a lot of people around here did things though. Just get up, walk out, and leave a pile of trash on the table.

Post pandemic it makes sense. No one will sit there again until it's cleaned. But before it just screamed to me they were lazy selfish assholes who weren't raised properly.

No, but I went an extra 100 kms into Manitoba this week for some barbecue and coffee near grand beach.

I estimate the last time I had a Big Mac was around 1989.

I’m not fond of the thinly veiled racism part, though that doesn’t sound any worse than  some of the more overt acts of racism I’ve seen in the Midwest in recent years..

The rest of it is definitely what I’m looking for.

I live in an area with very few, well, really no, Greek restaurants or diners* , so Arby’s is the only place I can get gyros. They might not make the best ones out there, but they are perfectly acceptable when there’s no alternative.

*we had one, but there’s a sad and somewhat uncomfortable  story there

Yeah, it was like a one day special awhile ago. They had a sous vide duck breast sandwich at a handful of restaurants, in a handful of areas with a major duck hunting tradition. I’m sure it was not the best duck out there, but the novelty of it caught my attention and wanted to try it.

Double Big Mac? I’ve never heard of such a beast , and it appears to be a Canadian thing. Decades ago I would order a Big Mac made with Quarter Pounder patties, or to minimize the bread-to-meat ratio, order a double Quarter Pounder with Mac sauce and shredded lettuce.
